Visions for Tomorrow

If a child or adolescent with a mental illness depends on you for his or her primary care, you’ll find a wealth of information and support in Visions for Tomorrow classes. Many primary caregivers are parents, but grandparents, aunts, uncles, respite care provider and foster parents attend Visions for Tomorrow classes, too. Classes offer you a safe, supportive place to share your experiences and learn valuable lessons from other adults who care for children with mental illness.

Visions for Tomorrow is a workshop course taught by family members of adolescents with mental illness to other like family members. The course addresses the needs of younger families in dealing with children and adolescents with mental illness. Topics include types of mental illnesses and emotional disorders as well as instruction on coping skills, dealing with schools, and how to be an advocate.

In Visions for Tomorrow classes you’ll learn about specific brain disorders such as:

  • Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • ODD/Conduct Disorder,
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder/Depressive Disorder
  • Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Tourette's Syndrome
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Reactive Attachment Disorder
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
  • Eating Disorders


Additionally, you’ll learn these essential skills:

This nationally recognized curriculum, which NAMI Texas has shared with 31 states, companies and agencies; also offers young family caregivers education in accessing school services, IDEA, and other resources available.

The VFT curriculum is a twelve Workshop format, taught in a weekend or weekly format that is flexible enough to be customized for any need your group or organziation might have.
